Stay at home mommy

Tag: SeanAndrewEmily @ 11:21 am

Next week starts my new job of stay at home mommy! I was officially done with work yesterday, but will be keeping Sean in daycare for the rest of the week so I can get my 12 page paper and 2 presentations finished for my summer class, and get the house in a little more order.
I’m really looking forward to spending time with Sean this summer. We have lots of fun stuff planned, like going to the zoo, the aquarium, Sunrock Farm (local petting zoo), Children’s museum, lots of walks, swimming and playtime. I bought Sean some new “big boy” thick crayons which he used for the first time yesterday. He really loved putting them in a tupperware so he could see them all, and picking them out one by one to color with. He has learned “purpur”, “buw” and “reeeeh” (purple, blue and red) and actually likes to color with pink a lot, despite what daddy thinks. 🙂

We have an appointment at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati on Thursday to get Sean’s eye looked at. He’s had blocked tear ducts since his first month. One cleared up, but the other never has. Poor boy can’t even open his eye most mornings because it’s so gucked up. The exam is Thursday, and then I assume they’ll schedule a time soon to get the procedure done to open the tear duct up. It’s very very simple and takes less than 5 minutes, so I’m not too worried about it…yet.

Turn, Turn, Up, Up!

Tag: SeanAndrewEmily @ 9:36 am

We were upstairs dancing with Sean last night and he turned himself in a circle for the first time. After he realized what he accomplished, he did it about 3 more times, and then proceeded to wipe out from dizziness. He’s been doing it again today as he dances; very cute but he can’t help but wipe out afterwards. hehe

Also, Sean and I were in the living room this morning and he flopped himself against the couch like he always does when he wants up. I didn’t put him up on the couch, so he flung his little leg up and pulled himself up! Boy, was he proud! He sat down on the couch and clapped and laughed as if to say “Haha! I did it anyway! So there!” He’s going to be a climber, we can already tell 🙂

New stuff

Tag: Emily,Family,Paul,SeanAndrewEmily @ 6:19 pm

I really need to update on the cute new stuff Sean is doing more often. Here’s what he’s been doing in the last few days/weeks:
-Sean got a new tooth this past weekend, his 5th, it’s the top left one next to the front teeth.
-Sean is clearly saying Hi (eyeee) and Bye (BuhBuh) while waving to people. He’s always waved, but now has put together saying hi or bye at the appropriate time.
-He’s starting to put an “S” on the end of his yes. He used to say “ayah” for yes, now he says “ayah…..s” so cute.
-He’s really like cars now, he’ll drive them all over the floor going “MmmmMMmmm” 🙂 His daddy loves this one
-Whenever he passes by a picture of me or paul he points to us and says “Mama” or “Dada” He is so proud that he knows who people are 🙂
-Sean is eating really well with a fork/spoon now. He can get food on them and most of the time make it to his mouth.
-Sean’s legs are finally long enough to propel himself on his ride-on toys!
-Sean’s Oma and Opa got him a puzzle for 2 year olds and up. It’s a wooden one with animal pieces. He’s mastered it and can complete it in about 2 minutes.
-Sean’s current obsessions are books and dancing. Loves both. Today we danced for about 10 minutes in the kitchen; he loves to hold my hand while he turns underneath it in a circle. We also read about 10 books about 4 times each when he got home. He likes to read every book he has downstairs, every day.
-My mom got Sean one of those old fashioned “popper” toys that you pull/push along. He will go around and around the rooms of the downstairs running with that thing. He loves it.
-Last but not least, Sean has taken after his “UmBye” with his adoration of ketchup. Sean will eat just about anything if it has ketchup on it. He goes nuts when he sees it in the fridge. So cute.

That’s about all the new stuff I can think of for now. I’ll try to update more often, as I know that everyone who doesn’t see him on a daily basis loves to know how he’s doing.

Also…I cant’ forget to wish Um-Bye (Brian) and SheShe (Ashley) a happy 2nd anniversary, and Philip (fi) a big congratulations on graduating high school last night!

New videos!!

Tag: SeanAndrewEmily @ 8:47 pm

OK, so if you haven’t seen this already, Sean does this crazy thing when we ask him “are you excited?” You just have to see the video to understand. It’s kind of long, but well worth it! We keep asking ourselves…what is this? LOL

Next, a very cute video of Sean playing ball with Baxter and Megabyte. He was laughing so hard; makes me laugh just to watch it. 🙂

What’s happening?

Tag: Emily,Family,SeanAndrewEmily @ 8:05 pm

Wow, it’s been FOREVER since I posted on here. I’ve been really busy lately, especially with the school year coming to a close soon.

1) Speaking of the school year ending, everyone supposedly hears from the school district if their job is renewed for next year, on May 15th. (Please keep me in your thoughts!) As you probably know, I ventured into the unknown last August and left my job at NorthKey to work as a Transition Coordinator in a local school district. It’s a year-to-year job, and the uncertainty of it was one of the negatives. I think, however, that the position has gotten a very positive response this year, and I hope that it (and I) will be renewed for next year. I’ve been working with the other coordinators on improvements for next year, and I’ve started putting together some data collection tools for the program so that we can track our effectiveness over the next few years. We have a HUGE 3-day transition summit in June in Bardstown, KY and our district (i.e. me and the other 2 coordinators) have to present about the “wonderful” things we’re doing in our district. Woopee! 😉 Add that to the growing stack of items on my plate *sigh*

2) I have some pictures from a few weeks ago that Paul bragged about that are finally edited and ready to go. Click below to see them.

3) I have a new hobby!!! I’m A-D-D-I-C-T-E-D to couponing! I just started about a month ago, and have already learned so much. Who knew that there could be so many complexities in grocery shopping?! LOL
Some of my more recent STEALS: Last week I got the following for FREE (yes, completely free): 2 bags of cat food (which I am donating to a cat shelter), a box of bandaids and 2 toothbrushes. Wow! FREE! My major deal from today was with Schick razors. I have had a few $4 off coupons for Schick Quattro razors (which are very nice disposables if you didn’t know…hehe…I Know, my life is boring) but the razors which usually retail for around $8.99 have never been on sale enough for me to feel like I”m getting enough of a deal. But tonight, thy were on sale at Kroger for $5.49 (unheard of) and I had 2, $4.00 off coupons PLUS 2 Buy One Get One Free coupons. So, I ended up getting 4 packages of the razors which usually retail for $8.99 for a mere $.75 each!!! Holy Crap! 🙂 I know, I’m weird. So, if anyone has some extra time and feels like sending their coupon inserts (SmartSource & Redplum) from the Sunday paper to me, I’d be ecstatic! 🙂 Paul thinks I’m nuts, but likes that I’ve found a hobby that actually saves us money. My trip to the store tonight cost me $45.66, but after my coupons, cost me just $14.28. I kick ass.

He amazes me

Tag: General,SeanAndrewEmily @ 3:12 pm

My mom and I were hanging out with Sean after school (we call his daycare “school”) today, and I was going through his little after school routine of snack, then playing with him and my mom was laughing all the things he was doing and understanding. I guess I didn’t realize how much he’s really picked up lately, especially in understanding what we’re saying to him. He talks through his snack, asking for more, and a drink, and pointing toward his goldfish crackers when he wanted some of those. After our snack, I told him to head into the kitchen and find his music (his car wash toy on the fridge), which he did, and played with for awhile. I then asked him if he wanted to give Megabyte a cookie (which he LOVES to do), so he headed right over to where the cookies are and held up his hand toward the box. He grabbed a couple, called Megabyte over to him (he calls out “Rey-right” which is how he says Megabyte) and then gave her the cookies one by one. Then I said that Meg had to go outside, so he walked over to the back door and pointed at it and said “ow-dye” (outside). He lets me open the door and let Meg out, then closes the door behind her. Then I said “ok, let’s go back to the kitchen and play” and he turned around and walked back to his fridge toy.

I guess I’m so used to it, that I fail to notice how much he’s comprehending and talking these days. It’s amazing how much he’s learned in the past month or so.

Also, when we saw Reagan over the past weekend, she had a really neat picture book that Sean liked. I , of course, got it for him, along with one more. He’s already starting to learn to point to pictures and say what they are. Check them out:

Beautiful day

We picked up Sean from school in his new wagon today. He really likes riding in his wagon; he feels like a big boy! Check out the awesome wagon, given to him by his Gama Diana:

Long time, no post

Tag: SeanAndrewEmily @ 11:15 am

Sorry that it’s been so long since we’ve posted. We’ve been pretty busy around here, but now that I”m on spring break, I figured that I had no excuse but to post.

We have a few pictures of Sean the night of Ashley’s birthday dinner. He’s wearing his snazzy shirt and vest that always looked so big to me hanging in the closet…and now it fits him perfectly. He’s getting too big!!

We also have a few videos that we haven’t edited in awhile. First is Sean and the never ending box of baggies. What a mess he made, but it was sure fun!

The next video is of Sean dancing. We’ve been trying to get a video of all his moves, but this only shows his bouncy move and twisty move. He’s got a few more. Hopefully we can catch him in a good mood sometime soon. Paul thought it’d be cute to have him dance to Vanilla Ice, hehe. Please excuse our messy room; we’re in the process of moving our office upstairs 😉

Sean is growing up so fast. His walking is getting really smooth and I bet he’ll start running any day now. His vocabulary continues to grow as well. I think he’s up to about 12-15 words now. He really enjoys playing and learning and dancing! He still carries his kitty around everywhere too. I’ll try not to go so long without posting next time!
