Sean has been very talkative lately. We got a really cute video of him babbling away, talking to his plane that his Uncle Brian got him. When I picked him up from daycare today, the lady said that he never stopped babbling the entire day. She said during tummy time, he was facing a little girl and just talked and talked and talked to her. What a flirt! Apparently he was pretty good entertainment today. Check out the video and you’ll see what I mean π

At 10:00am this morning, my maternal grandmother passed away. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. Mom is doing well, as are the rest of us. We’re glad she’s with Howard and Stevie – and I’m sure Dad has one helluva garden waiting for her.

Sean is starting to like eating his oatmeal now. He only makes a scrunchy face for the first bite, then does his “mmm!” and kicks his legs. I think he eats partially because he sees me getting really excited about it and making silly faces and saying “mmmm!” back at him π Either way, it’s awfully cute.
Oh, and he’s starting to sit really well too. He’s up to about 20 seconds by himself without falling over!

Came across this article today while surfing around the interwebs. Its titled “Fathering in America: Whatβs a Dad Supposed to Do?” Thought it had some useful advice and would be nice to share with other dads (and dad’s to be!) who may read this blog. Its brief but to the point.

Well, at least I appear that way π
I learned how to solve a rubix cube today. I always thought that it was just random luck, but there are actually a lot of algorithms that you have to use depending on the way the cube is set up at different times. It’s really interesting and a great brain workout!
Now I just have to memorize all the algorithms and then I can REALLY look like a genius! π

I got 4 new videos uploaded to our “Our videos” page. Either click here, or like always, you can click on the “Our Videos” link on the sidebar.
Also uploaded lots more pictures of Sean getting his feet, and his attempts at sitting up π

Sean has officially found his feet. He’s been playing with them for a couple days and loves his new “built in” toys. π Got some pictures of him playing with them on the changing table. Hope to get them up tonight.

Sean had tried rice cereal a few times before his doctor appointment and HATED it (also see: LOATHED, DESPISED, DETESTED). He made such an awful face when offered it, and even started crying when he would see the container of it being pulled out of the cabinet! π
We did buy some oatmeal yesterday and let him try that. He still hasn’t gotten the skill of swallowing it, he just pushes it around in his mouth for awhile. I tried feeding him some before bathtime last night and he didn’t make an awful face, but wasn’t swallowing it either. When I had him layed on the counter undressing him, I tried a little bit more, and he did well with it. I think laying down helped to get it into the back of his mouth and he was able to figure out how to swallow it. Must be hard to figure out swallowing stuff other than milk for the first time ever! Anyway, we got a cute short video of him eating, he was even making the “MMM!” sound loudly and kicking his feet while eating. I’ll try to get it posted tonight.
Tried to feed him a little more this morning. I didn’t get a bad face, but he wasn’t really feeling it this morning. Will try again tonight. Can’t wait until he actually starts eating more of it. Right now it’s just 3-4 baby spoonulls per session. We’ll keep trying!

Sean had his 4 month checkup today. He got another round of shots/vaccines, and this time did surprisingly well with the shots! He only cried for about 15 seconds total…thanks to a very speedy and nice nurse/shotgiver π
He now weighs in at 15lb 11oz. Since he’s eating so much now and has doubled his birth weight, they said he could start rice cereal or oatmeal. How exciting! We’ll buy and try out some oatmeal tomorrow and see how it goes!
They were also very impressed with his “skills” (standing, rolling over, talking, manipulating objects, etc). Our little boy genius!

I recently added some new toys to my geeky collection. Back in October, Dmoney hooked me up with a new phone – the HTC 6700 for SprintPCS. I LOVED this phone, I actually used the mobile Word/Excel frequently, it was excellent for text messaging, was convenient to have a decent camera around, etc. Last week, the keyboard started to go out – requiring pretty excessive pressing to get things like the space bar and lower qwerty keys to work. It was also starting to lock up once in a while and when a reminder popped up, it immediately went away so I couldn’t disable, snooze, etc.
Anyway, our SprintPCs contract expired almost a year ago, so we decided to shop around to see what was available. After visiting a bunch of websites and spending some time in the CinciBell store, we determined our current plan with Sprint simply rocks and couldn’t find anyone to even match it. Long story short, Emily and I both got new phones yesterday. She got a new Katana and I got the HTC Mogul (the 6800). The Mogul is faster and runs Windows Mobile 6. Love the phone. Couple pics I stole from the net:
Next, I built a new computer. My previous PC was a Gateway we bought at Best Buy almost three years ago – AMD dual core 3800+ with (upgraded) 3GB RAM and one XFX 8800 GT 512mb video card.
Instead of store bought, I decided to go back to my old hobby and build one. I went to my old favorite, Newegg.com to do the shopping. I went with:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield 2.66GHz, 12MB Cache
Motherboard: XFX MB-N780-ISH9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI
CPU Cooler: ASUS V-60 92mm Vapo Bearing
RAM: mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
Video: XFX PVT88PYDE4 GeForce 8800GT Extreme 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 – Added this to run in SLi
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos 1000
Power Supply: ZALMAN ZM750-HP Continuous 750W Modular LED Heatpipe-Cooled SLI Power Supply
This is by far the highest class machine I have ever built. I ran the FutureMark 3dMark06 on both my old computer and new computer and was pretty amazed. The old PC was running Vista Ultimate 32 bit and the new PC is running Windows XP Pro 64bit (to utilize all 4GB ram). 3Dmark on the old PC hit 3906 marks. The new PC was around 14,567 marks!! I may go to Vista 64Bit, but wasn’t really impressed with Vista enough for the 1.5 years or so I ran it. The changes to the control panel and Windows Explorer were enough to put me off. I never ran into stability or driver issues when using Vista, even with my printers.
