Name update

Tag: baby2,GeneralEmily @ 9:00 pm

I spent awhile yesterday on baby name websites..boy…more info there than I could ever want!! I came up with 2 more first name potentials. They are for Paul’s dad, Lawrence (Lary) Joseph Cahill. I came up with Laurel (after Lawrence) or Josephine (Josie for short -after his middle name Joseph). Thoughts?

Name help please!

Tag: baby2,GeneralEmily @ 9:05 pm

We are feeling pretty stuck. Sean’s name came to us so easily, and we really love how we used names from family members (Big Sean and Brian’s middle name – Andrew). We would like to be able to do another name made from names of family, but we are having a hard time coming up with good girl names. Please put on your thinking cap and ‘comment’ to us some names of women in our family that may have good names for this little girl! We don’t need full names (first and middle) necessarily, we can put that together later, but any help would be great.

Some of the names that have made it on to our “potential names” list include:

Marie (middle name only) – Paul’s sister Megan’s name (Megan-Marie)
Lillian (first name) – I think this was Lary (Paul’s dad’s) grandmother’s name??
Page/Paige (middle name only) – Narni’s (Paul’s mom) middle name
Claira (first name) – another grand or great grandmother…but can’t remember now from where…
Catherine (middle name) – Cate’s (my sister) middle name

We need more to choose from! Come on family, please help!!

It’s a girl!!

Here are some ultrasound pictures from Tuesday. Our next little one will be a girl!! We are super excited (and admittedly kind of scared), but happy none the less. Little Sean has been talking about getting a little sister when we ask him, and he says it’s name will be “baby boy.” Hmm…guess we’ll have to work on that one.

New rooms!

Tag: baby2,GeneralEmily @ 7:43 pm

We’ve been hard at work lately trying to transform the rooms on the 2nd floor. We had a really fun time making Sean’s room a big boy room a few weeks ago. It’s Thomas land now, and he loves it. He finally has toys in there now, and really loves laying on his floor playing with all his toys. He’s even good at cleaning up!

Of course, there’s some pictures of his favorite thing…running around in his underpants. These were too cute not to post!

I spent the day today swapping the office/guest room and the baby room. We were orginally going to put the baby in the office, but Paul suggested making the guest room into the baby room. It’s a little bigger than the office, and the office is the only room with a cable/internet hookup upstairs, so we’d have to do some major changes to re-run those wires. I put all the baby furniture in the room today and it looks great. It really is making the fact that a new baby is on the way even more real! Only 2 more weeks, then we can pick out bedding, decorations, etc, for either a baby boy or girl!! Sean doesn’t like the room; he says the baby cant’ sleep in his crib or use his chair. 🙂

He’s just too smart.

So I was just telling Sean that we were going to go watch the Memorial Day parade in a few minutes, and that there would be kids, firetrucks, police trucks, soldiers, etc etc and that they would throw some candy at us and he would get to keep the candy. Of course, I thought he would be super excited about the candy part, but his reply was “I don’t need candy from the policeman, I have candy at home.” Classic.

Big boy bed

Tag: General,SeanAndrewEmily @ 7:09 am

As you can probably tell, we’re trying to post a little more often on here…we’ve gotten terrible about it. We bought Sean a big boy bed awhile back, but havent’ pushed him sleeping in it. Yesterday he wanted me to set it up, so we did. He slept in it last night perfectly! He is so proud of himself and his ‘friends’ that slept in it with him (stuffed animals). We plan to dismantle the crib and remove it from his room today. Hopefully he’ll be ok with sleeping in his bed from now on!!

Should we start taking bets?

Tag: baby2,GeneralEmily @ 8:55 am

Our sonogram date is June 29th. We are very excited to find out if this little baby is a boy or girl! Sean always says that it’s a baby boy, but some of us are feeling the girl vibes pretty strong! Any bets?? Ours are:

Emily – boy
Paul – girl
Lil Sean -boy

The Big Split

Sean wiped out rounding a corner in our house and split his lip wide open 🙁

Poor guy.

Thanks to Alli and Stephen and Alli for sending Sean the train set! It was Stephen’s when he was a boy and Sean LOVES it. He named the engine Thomas and it went to dinner, the mattress store, and to bed with him 🙂

Lots going on.

Emily and I finally got our taxes done this past weekend and now we are springing for a temprapedic mattress. We’ve slept on a few of those foam mattresses (on a cruise and at the local Episcopal diocese camp) before and really liked them. Now that Emily is pregnant, we need something more comfortable for her (and me?) to sleep on. Our current mattress is only 5 or 6 years old but it is super uncomfortable. We are getting it delivered on Saturday and I (we) are SO looking forward to it.
I’ve picked up three new projects for the summer. I am determined to get the garden we started last summer finished to some point – meaning its not some walled of dirt lot that its been:) The second project is to restore the grass in a number of spots in the yard that have become barren due to shade or poor soil. The third…and my most ambitious…is a truck. When I was at Murray State, my folks got me an 87 Mitsubishi Montero 2 door – the sport model (top o the line). We bought it from a guy on base from the “Lemon lot”. It was my first car I didn’t have to share and I loved it. I met Emily when I had the truck, installed my first stereo thanks to Kurt, and many other fond memories. So I bought another. I’ve scoured the net for years to find one…one that wasn’t way overpriced that is.
The problem with an 80’s truck is rust and carburetors. Both of which this truck has problems with. I am dealing with the rust with a wire brush, evap-o-rust, primer and other fun stuff, but I’ve only ever worked on fuel injected cars so this is new to me. I’m in no hurry – but next winter would be nice 🙂 Emily is a very patient wife…because I bought a second one for dirt cheap – it is a rust bucket but came with a boat load of parts and extras that I can use to rebuild my project truck.
Sean has been potty training for a number of weeks now and its going slowly. Some weeks he is spot on and we think things are turning around, then the terrible twos turn their head and he fights tooth and nail. He’ll learn eventually and we are proud of everything else he does.
Lots of stuff coming up in the next couple months so I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated!
