Dad and Mom’s Gallery

Tag: GeneralPaul C. @ 7:35 pm

Dad spent a lot of time scanning his old slides and wood working in the garage building shaker style furniture. He kept the digital copies on his website (LaryandNarni.com) which is now offline. This evening I imported all his galleries though, HERE.

September Stuff

Sorry for the long delay in a post! September has been a busy month for our family of 3.5. Labor Day weekend, we spent a fun weekend in the mountains at Cathedral Domain (a camp/retreat owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington). Sean had a blast. We went hiking in the woods, played games, and hung out.

A couple weeks later my mom and my Aunt Karen came for a visit and we spent the saturday at A Day Out With Thomas. It was my and Sean’s first time riding on a train (not counting the Metro in DC/Spain) that I can remember. Sean got to meet Thomas and Sir Toppham Hat.

Sean also started his preschool/daycare at the big kids school. His daycare splits the age groups 0-2.5 years (or when potty trained) and the older kids into two different locations. After his first couple days there, Emily picked him up and he said “Mommy, I want some new shoes”. So they went to the store and he picked out a pair of white sneakers with characters from Disney’s Cars movie on them. He was very proud. His feet are also finally big enough to wear his Chuck Taylors that Megan and Matt gave him for his first birthday!

Emily is doing really well. Starting to get to the uncomfortable phase of things. Only 6.5 more weeks to go I think! We are just about ready (good bye to my sleep schedule once again!)

Lillian in 3D!

Tag: GeneralEmily @ 8:15 pm

I had my 3D/4D ultrasound today that my mom got me for my birthday. Lillian was a bit shy, but we got some really nice pictures of her. She likes to be crunched up in half, with her hands in front of her face. She looks so sweet and we can’t wait to see her in a few short weeks!! Check out pictures below!

July 2010 photos

I should have posted these a while back, but here are some photos from a number of weekends ago. Brian and I put together a play/swing set at Diana’s house for Sean. It was a Saturday with a heat index of 102 degrees. I think I drank about a gallon of water that day – but no sunburn!

Sean and I played in the sprinkler and wading pool – and then Diana joined in! Sean had a blast water boarding us with the sprinkler.

Project Time! (aka – how to make your wife mad)

Tag: Cars,Fun,General,PaulPaul C. @ 3:49 pm

So a few months ago (yeah..and I’m just getting around to posting this…shows how fast the project is moving), I bought a 1987 Mitsubishi Montero 2 door. For those that don’t know, is the car I had in college. It was the car I had my first stereo system in (thanks Kurt) and the car I had when I met Emily. I loved it. Took it off road, road trips, trips down south (beer run for non-Murray State folks). It started having some engine trouble and the Auffenburg Mitsubishi dealer told us the head was bad and would need to be replaced for a couple thousand bucks. My parents sold it to a friend of my sisters for $300 and he fixed with plugs and wires.

Ever since then, I’ve wanted another. I finally found one in Ohio. It was in okay shape for a 30+ year old truck and definitely fits the “project” status it has been given. It currently isn’t running though. After poking around the engine bay, it looks like the previous owner replaced all the obvious stuff – plugs, wires, rotor, cap, and even the coil and carburetor.

After buying it, I found *another* that did run, but its body and frame is in really bad shape (as in there basically isn’t a rear passenger frame rail). I got it for a steal to use as a parts truck and the guy had a barn full of of spare parts. I chucked a good portion of them though – who needs six passenger tail lights??

So anyway, that’s that. My goal this summer is to at least get it running (or at least firing!), and barring that, get any bad rust spots coated with rust kill, primer, etc. to stop it. I’m probably in over my head…but hey – we didn’t use the garage anyway, right?? Hopefully I’ll be able to find some time to work on it after baby #2 gets here in November!

Here’s a shot of the Montero sleeping and a link to the other photos:

Where’s my head?

Tag: baby2,Emily,Family,General,PaulPaul C. @ 3:24 pm

Em and I were talking the other night and we realized we never made an official announcement about the name of baby 2.0. (or is it 1.6 since we have three months to go?).
We toyed about it for a very long time – wanting to have a first name from one side of the family and a middle name from the other. We did easily agree on the last name, however.
So – we decided on Lillian Catherine. Lillian is from my side of the family (I think from my dads?) and Catherine is Emily’s sister.

reminder to all parents

A couple of times a year, I check the KY State Police website for registered sex offenders to see if there are any in or near our neighborhood. We’re pretty lucky, I think, as of right now there aren’t any in our immediate area.

Click above to search the KY Registered Offenders database. I also check the Family Watchdog site, but I’m not sure how accurate it is compared to the State Police one:

It lists more offenders, and shows some closer to my house, but they don’t state how fresh the data is.
