We picked up Sean from school in his new wagon today. He really likes riding in his wagon; he feels like a big boy! Check out the awesome wagon, given to him by his Gama Diana:

Long time, no post

Tag: SeanAndrewEmily @ 11:15 am

Sorry that it’s been so long since we’ve posted. We’ve been pretty busy around here, but now that I”m on spring break, I figured that I had no excuse but to post.

We have a few pictures of Sean the night of Ashley’s birthday dinner. He’s wearing his snazzy shirt and vest that always looked so big to me hanging in the closet…and now it fits him perfectly. He’s getting too big!!

We also have a few videos that we haven’t edited in awhile. First is Sean and the never ending box of baggies. What a mess he made, but it was sure fun!

The next video is of Sean dancing. We’ve been trying to get a video of all his moves, but this only shows his bouncy move and twisty move. He’s got a few more. Hopefully we can catch him in a good mood sometime soon. Paul thought it’d be cute to have him dance to Vanilla Ice, hehe. Please excuse our messy room; we’re in the process of moving our office upstairs 😉

Sean is growing up so fast. His walking is getting really smooth and I bet he’ll start running any day now. His vocabulary continues to grow as well. I think he’s up to about 12-15 words now. He really enjoys playing and learning and dancing! He still carries his kitty around everywhere too. I’ll try not to go so long without posting next time!

Resor Rides – A Trans-continental bike ride in support of Bikes Not Bombs

Tag: GeneralPaul C. @ 9:16 am

ResorRides.com
A local VW club member is doing a charity ride for Bikes Not Bombs – he is riding from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean on a bike to raise money. On a Bike. 3000+ Miles. ON A BIKE. He doesn’t have his donation link ready, but will soon I am told. The donations are tax deductible I believe. The link above is to his personal blog about his trip.
Here is a brief statement about Bikes Not Bombs from their website:

Bikes Not Bombs promotes bicycle technology as a concrete alternative to war and environmental destruction. For 25 years, BNB has been a nexus of bike recycling and community empowerment both in lower income neighborhoods of Boston and in the nations of the Global South. BNB’s programs involve young people and adults in mutually respectful leadership development and environmental stewardship, while recycling thousands of bicycles.

My first big scare

Tag: SeanAndrewEmily @ 7:57 pm

I was getting Sean’s dinner ready tonight, and he was nibbling on some of his favorite, goldfish crackers. I put his food in the microwave, and turned back around to talk with him while his food was warming up. When I turned around, he was coughing because a goldfish must have went down the wrong way. I patted him on the back to try to help him, like I do when he coughs like that sometimes, and then after a second, I realized that he wasn’t breathing. The look on his face will stay with me for a long time; complete terror. Without even thinking, I grabbed him out of the highchair, flung him upside down over my arm and whacked his back. After three whacks, he started coughing and he spit out the goldfish.
Of course, he cried for a long time, which I didn’t realize until later when my mom and I were talking about it, that he was probably also crying because it was the first time I had ever struck him. Mommy hit me!!! 🙁 I cuddled and played with him for hours after that and gave him thousands of kisses to make sure he knew that I still loved him. Poor guy.

Advise for anyone pregnant or with little ones: Take a child/infant CPR class. I’m sure glad I did.

Big Pimpin’

Tag: GeneralEmily @ 9:11 pm

Aunt Karen and Uncle Ted (Paul’s godparents), sent Sean an awesome Adidas jumpsuit for his birthday (along with some other fun stuff). He wore it today and later tonight, when we went to my mom’s for dinner, we put a black necklace with a big gold earring on it (to look like some bling), as well as one of Paul’s hats. Check out the pictures of our little gangsta:

Slumdog Millionaire – great movie, sad real life

Tag: Emily,Fun,Fun Links and Stuff,GeneralPaul C. @ 1:39 pm

Over the weekend, my mom volunteered to watch Sean so Emily and I could go out to the movies – we haven’t done that since New Years. We tried to go all out and site in the fancy-pants seating at the new theatre in Florence, KY but it was sold out. We opted for Slumdog Millionaire. I heard it was a good movie, but didn’t know what to expect. Both Emily and I really enjoyed the movie. I’ll probably rent it when it comes out on video and watch it again.
According to Wikipedia, the movie cost around $15 million to produce. As of yesterday, it grossed $189 million worldwide. Thats great news right? It is until I found out today that the kids from the movie – after having a huge Oscar premiere and trip to Disneyland – are now back in the slums from which they were discovered.
The youngest boy who played Salim has taken ill and was was caught on film being beaten by his father. Rubiana who played the young Latika is still starry eyed in the slums – still wearing the light blue dress she wore to the Oscars.
The article says the kids were paid, but it is in a trust fund that they can’t touch until they are 18. I’m guessing they probably weren’t compensated as a child actor from the west.
I hope, with the ~$174million the production has grossed, they will make something right about this.

13 Month Gallery – birthday pics – are up!

Tag: GeneralPaul C. @ 1:30 pm

Took some time during lunch today to fix the gallery. For any geeks reading, GoDaddy doesn’t use netPBM, they use imageMagick so I just to make that in the config.
