1 more week

Tag: Emily,General,SeanAndrewEmily @ 10:23 pm

Things have been really busy the past few days around here.  Little Sean is as busy as ever trying to get his little thumb into his mouth.  He’s made a lot of progress over the past week, and has figured out that it kind of stays in there if he turns his hand sideways.  He hasn’t quite gotten the sucking part down, he mostly chews on his thumb at this point.  He has also been practicing rolling over from his back to his tummy.  If I roll his legs a little bit to the side for him, he can get his arm to the front and get his head up and around and flip himself!  He laughs every time he does it..probably more so because I’m giggling and shrieking and laughing because I’m so proud of him, than he is proud of himself 🙂

On a sad note, I have to go back to work starting May 20th.  I’m torn about it; I am looking forward to getting out of the house and having some alone/adult time, but I can’t imagine not seeing Sean for so many hours!  The most I’ve been away from him during the day is 2-3 hours.  So far, I think the schedule will start out as me home on Mondays, Daycare on Tues & Wed and my mom watching him on Thurs and Fri.  That of course will change when she goes to the cabin over the summer, but by then he’ll be used to daycare and probably won’t mind going more often.

Speaking of daycare, he gets a “trial run” day on Monday!  I’m dropping him off at 2pm Monday and Paul will be picking him up on his way home from work around 545pm.  I figure it’ll give me a chance to see what it feels like to leave him there, and also give him a chance to try it out before staying a whole day there.  I’m both nervous and excited, but I am really happy with the daycare center, so I feel at ease.   The great news is that they aren’t even charging me for the 1/2 day!  Cool stuff.

Sorry there haven’t been many pictures so far this month…I keep forgetting to take them.  I’ll try to get some thumb-sucking and rolling over ones soon.

Jumparoo

Tag: General,SeanAndrewEmily @ 9:17 pm

We got a Jumparoo for Sean from my work and I’ve been dying to try it out, but he’s way too young for it (have to be about 6 months). Yesterday, I put it together to see if he could just sit in it and look at the toys for entertainment. Well, not only does he loves the toys, but with the help of a little box under his feet (he’s about 5 inches off the ground b/c he’s so short) he can kick his little feet and make it rock back and forth. No jumping yet since his neck isn’t strong enough for it, but he really gets a kick out of making the whole thing rock back and forth and play music. Check out some pictures; there’s also 2 of Sean and Paul playing Mario Kart Wii together 🙂

BeBePod

Sean tried out Reagan’s BeBePod while we were at their house yesterday. He really seemed to like sitting up and looking around and did well in it! I think I’m going to get him one!

Ouch

Yesterday was awful at the doctor with Sean 🙁 He had to get 5 shots and 2 oral medications. He screamed of course, and the fact that the nurse wasn’t that nice and was jabbing and stabbing him and making him choke on the oral medications didn’t make it any easier for me to watch. He got three blue camouflage bandaids on his thighs and lots of hugs and kisses from mommy the rest of the day. Poor little guy. He slept like a rock last night and is still sleepy today. What a traumatic experience! 🙁

On a good note, he’s growing like a weed. He now weighs 12lbs 5.2oz (up from 9lbs 8oz last month) and is 23 inches long (up from 21 last month). He’s around the 67th percentile on all the charts. That’s our boy!

Tomorrow

I’m dreading tomorrow.  Sean has his 2 month checkup…which means he gets all his shots :-(   I hate it already.

Early morning

We accidentally let Sean nap last evening through our dinnertime (about 630-800p). Since he had slept so much before he actually went to bed he decided that 5:00am was a great time to wake up for the day, instead of his usual 7:30. I stayed up till about midnight last night playing games with family, so needless to say, I’m a little pooped this morning. Guess we won’t be letting him do that anymore!

Tell me how you really feel

Tag: General,SeanAndrewEmily @ 9:06 am

We’ve been struggling lately to get Sean to sleep in his crib.  He has spent the last 7 weeks sleeping in people’s arms.  I think between traveling so much and moving and having so many of his relatives around, people (including us) tend to just snuggle him constantly and so he’s never really learned to be put down to sleep.  We’ve been working on it and in the process have learned that he really likes sleeping on his belly more than his back. We bought a special monitor that has an alarm on it if he stops moving/breathing for 15 seconds so we aren’t concerned about him sleeping on his stomach.  Plus people have been doing it for all of time…it’s just seems like the current thing to make babies sleep on their backs.

Anyway, he’s been doing a little better with it; I’ve been tracking his eating and sleeping to start to get him in a little routine.  This morning, I went in to check on him and I found him telling me exactly how he feels about sleeping in his crib instead of his mommy’s arms…check it out by CLICKING HERE.

Enjoy. 🙂
