Please keep my family in your prayers…

For those that my not know, my dad has been fighting pancreatic cancer (which also developed into lung and liver cancer).  Last week, he entered into a home based hospice and has been resting with family and friends around.  When he first entered hospice, the nurse thought he may have another month or so to live.  Yesterday (Wednesday), things got really bad.  Emily and I planned on coming up this weekend to introduce Little Sean to his grandpa, but at 3:30am last night Mom called to let us know that dad was not doing well at all and the on-call hospice nurse said he likely only had 24 to 72 hours.

We packed up the car and got on the road by 5am and made the 6 hour drive to my parent’s house in O’Fallon, IL.   We’ve spent the day talking to Dad and remembering all the great times we’ve had.  We are very thankful that we had our time over Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2007. He hasn’t left us yet, but its only a matter of time.  He is resting right now and not in pain.

Dad kept a log on his fight on my parent’s website, http://laryandnarni.com .  You can also see a lot of my  dad’s photos that he took over the years and his trips.  Dad was big into black and white photography and I remember when we lived in Germany, he  converted our basement storage area into a darkroom 🙂

We’re hoping dad will be able to pass quietly and peacefully soon.  I’m sure there is quite a reception waiting for him ‘upstairs’.
