All Better!

Since Monday night, Sean has been sleeping in his crib and his sniffles are all gone! Mom and Dad have been sleeping well (especially mom!) and Sean is back to his normal cheerful self. He went to daycare for the first time in over a week yesterday. He was so pooped when he got home, that he was in bed by 6:30pm and didn’t wake up until midnight for a bottle! I was secretly hoping he would wake up so I would actually get to spend some time with him :)

Memorial Day Weekend

We traveled to St. Louis over Memorial Day Weekend to visit Paul’s family, and to attend Stephen’s wedding (friend of Paul’s). We had a great time and took a ton of pictures!

Still working on getting the wedding pictures online.

See pictures of Sean during the weekend by clicking below:

Sean’s getting so big! Just a few days ago, he started grabbing toys with his hand, then with both hands and then bringing the toy to his mouth. He loves this new skill and tends to hold on to his toys for 5-10 minutes at a time! He also is very talkative lately. He loves when people have “conversations” with him; mimicking the noises that he makes. He cracks up laughing and keeps the conversation going until you stop it. So cute.

I’m going to start getting some videos of Sean, hopefully on a weekly basis, and putting them on our youtube account. He’s doing so many new things each week, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy the milestones along with us. Plus, he’s so darn cute, who could resist a movie of him?? ;-)

I hate dieting

I have 4 weeks until I return to work and still have quite a bit of weight to lose to get to my ‘pre-pregnancy’ weight. Not that I really care about getting to that exact weight really soon, but I really don’t want to have to buy a whole new work wardrobe b/c I can’t fit into any of my clothes *sigh*. So, Paul and I have started doing the Weight Watcher’s points program. We’re not going to meetings or anything, but we’ve done the program before so we know how it works. I figured that if I post something on here I’ll have to stick to the plan more rigorously :-)

okay…this is not a family oriented post….

Just wanted to mention that in the subject for those who care :)   My friend Jim sent these youtube videos to me and I laughed out loud so hard Emily almost took the baby away from me!  I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, and the “Ben Damon / Matt Affleck” guys as well.

The language is NSFW although it is censored.  First thing you should know is Sarah and Jimmy have been dating for years.  Both are comedians and are usually pretty over the top.  Jimmy used to host The Man Show on comedy central (before it went down hill!).  Here are the vidoes – watch them in order  ( 1 )   ( 2 )

StephCarson Photos are in!

We got the photo CD from Steph Carson yesterday, and they turned out great :) I’ll let Emily post how to get to the photos and stuff – we will have to resize them to fit in our gallery but will also provide a link that people can use to order copies of the photos. I’ll post some later this evening to the gallery.

07th Mar 2008

Its never good bye, it’s see you later.

Dad passed away tonight shortly after I posted the previous note.  He left us around 6:57pm CST.  He went peacefully, which is how he specified he would like to go.  Things are pretty down in the household tonight.  This is a very new feeling and experience for us all. Mom is doing as well as she can.  She has expressed many times how extremely happy she is that everyone made it back home for Dad – Emily, the baby Sean, and I made it from Cincinnati; Sean flew in from Seattle.  Megan was here from across the river and Uncle Robby made the trek up from North Carolina.  Uncle Robby was a great help with everything.  He has worked with Hospice before and knew what to expect and let us know ahead of time.  It was nice hearing things from a loved one instead of a nurse (although the nurses di do a great job).  Mom expressed a number of times how happy she was that Emily and I made it up with little Sean.  When she spoke to dad a few days ago, Dad said the only thing he never got to do was hold his grandson.  We made sure that happened for a long while today.  Sean laid in Grandpop’s arms very peacefully and even slept for a while.
The next few days certainly won’t be easy for any of us.  There are a lot of steps to take care of and many feelings going around. We are all happy that dad has made the next step.  He went very peacefully.  We are surely going to miss him more than anyone knows.  Colonel Lawrence Cahill Jr. will be missed be many people – Air Force, American Red Cross, Friends, Family,.  We love you Dad! Keep watching over little Sean!

Pictures up from Day 2!

Click here for the album from today (we’ll add more when Philip comes to visit tonight).  Lots of cute ones!  Sean had his first feeding last night and took to it like a champ, but was more finicky today so we had to feed him some formula.  He’s been sleeping ever since.  Emily got to change a poopy diaper today, and this morning he peed on the doctor.  Emily plans on posting tonight on her labor and delivery so stay tuned!

The Deets on the new Mcgillicutty

11:56pm

Sean Andrew Cahill was born at 6:27pm. He weighs 7 pounds, 2.8oz and is 21 inches long. We are exhausted, as is Sean. He just got done with his first meal, thanks to Emily’s mobile lunch carts ;) He really latched onto feeding. Very few problems so far! I got the “honor” of cleaning the first diaper. Sean gave me the honor of filling the diaper two more times while I was trying to change the initial gift.
I think I may try to hit the hay for a while. I suspect we will be up a couple times tonight.

We have a big window in our room so I should be able to get some nice natural light shots.
