Say goodbye to Emily

Tag: GeneralEmily @ 3:55 pm

Just a fair warning to everyone, don’t be offended if you don’t hear from me in the next two months. I have, like always, taken on 2,000 too many things and will not have any time for a life until late April.

As most of you know, I started taking karate again after 10 years (I did it from 4th – 10th grade). I ran across my Sensei about a year ago; he started a new Christian karate school in Florence, KY. I decided to start back up; I’ve always wanted to but never had the time. It’s amazing what 10 years will do to the body and memory. Well, he told me this weekend that he wanted me to test for black belt in March. I’m really excited; it’s a lifetime goal of mine to achieve my black belt, but I worry because I’m so out of shape.

I’m getting back to Gold’s Gym to work out every day in order to get in shape for the test. 8 weeks to go!

I’ve also been asked to be a team member on the next women’s Walk to Emmaus in April. I have team meetings almost every Tuesday from now until April, and the actual weekend in mid-April.

So my weekly schedule now consists of working out every morning, going to work, then karate 3 hours on Monday nights, Emmaus meetings Tuesday nights, working late Wednesday night (I work a later shift on Wednesdays), karate for 3 hours Thursday nights, NOTHING on Fridays, and karate on Saturdays for 2 hours. BLEH.

So…between getting ready to test for my black belt, the Walk to Emmaus, building our house that will be completed in April, going on vacation in April, work, being on-call for work every 3 weeks, and every-day life things, I will be lucky to come out on top. But, once May comes life will be grand, we’ll be in our new house, and I’ll be a-ok.

Wish me good-luck ’till then and pray for my sanity.

New Book

Tag: GeneralPaul C. @ 12:22 pm

My favorite author, Greg Iles has a new book out. I gues I’ll have to go pick up a copy (or order it online to save a few bucks). My dad gave me my first book written by Greg Iles. I let my brother borrow a couple of them ones I bought (Sean…will I ever get those back?? 🙂 ) and he liked them as well. I think Emily has read just about all of Mr. Iles’ books as well. I’ll let every one know how I like it after I finish it.

16 hours and counting…

Tag: GeneralEmily @ 11:02 pm

Spent the whole night tonight, all day yesterday, and part of the weekend finishing our move from our home in Erlanger. What a feat! I never want to move again. Bleh.
I’m already dreading moving all that stuff in April, but Paul and I are planning on renting a truck and doing it in 1-2 trips versus the 40-50 we took in my mom’s van trucking everything to storage.
Got everything packed up safely, except for the glass for Paul’s computer desk which I completely shattered in 1,000,000 pieces when I barely touched it on the floor, and our dining room table which is now split in 1/2 thanks to Philip (my little brother) who sent it rolling across the parking lot, only to smash into the storage wall and break in two *sighs* Oh well, life goes on.

We’re going to try to get a picture of us tomorrow after the closing with our “SOLD” sign. Keep your fingers crossed! Tomorrow at 3pm is the closing! yay!!!

Happy New Year, 2006!

Tag: GeneralEmily @ 2:17 pm

Paul and I went out with our friends Mark and Jaime to Mainstrasse in Covington, KY. Unlike last year, we got there early (about 9pm) and hung out at The Village Pub until about 10:30, then went over to the Strasse Haus. We got too crunched in there, so we went to Cock and Bull for the ball drop. I actually missed the ball drop because we were looking for my cell phone that Paul lost. We found it about 10 seconds after the drop….in Paul’s pocket. Oh well.

The Holiday Weekend

Tag: General,The HousePaul C. @ 10:40 am

Had a great Christmas this year. Was very relaxing and it seemed everyone got something they wanted. 🙂 *
Emily and I went to see the Chronicles of Narnia last night. I was very very impressed with it. We both enjoyed the movie a lot. Makes me want to go back and read the books. I read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe back in 4th or 5th grade. I highly reccomend this movie. I think this series will be better than the Harry Potter movies (which, while I enjoyed them, their special effects were kind of lacking anything special).

Happy 30th Birthday Sean and Paul!

Tag: GeneralEmily @ 6:29 pm

Wow…what a great weekend! I’m writing this a little late, but oh well.

Sean and Paul’s 30th Birthday was on Friday, Dec 2. I started planning with Sean and his parents in January 2005 for a huge party for their 30th. In case you missed it…

Friday night, I took Paul out for what he thought was going to be a romantic dinner for two at the Waterfront Restaurant in Covington, KY. Meanwhile… Sean was flying in from Seattle, and Stephen (their best friend from St. Louis) drove from St. Louis to pick Sean up from the airport. Paul’s mom, dad, sister and grandmother drove from St. Louis as well. Everyone met at my mom’s house, then headed over to the Waterfront around 7:00pm. Paul and I were at a table for 2, and I kept having to make silly excuses for why I kept looking towards the door. A table for 12 was set up right behind ours, but Paul never took notice. While we were ordering, everyone slipped into their places at the table behind us, and then Paul’s mom came over and kissed him on the cheek. The look on his face was one I’ll never forget. He later told me “I saw my mom, then your mom, and I knew in that instant that I’d been had.” YAY! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner together. After dinner Sean, Paul, Stephen, Megan and I went out to the Pub in Crestview Hills. (See pictures here )

Then came Saturday…
Paul, Sean, Megan and Stephen went out shopping with their mom while my mom and I busily prepared the house for the party! My friend Mary drove in from Illinois to help (thank you Mary!). Everyone arrived and we hid in the living room to await their arrival. Sean and Paul came in and Paul was definitly blown away. (See pictures here)

Paul was SO clueless about both nights. I think it took him until Monday morning to finally wrap his mind around what had happened during the weekend. I’m so glad that everyone made it safely and that everything went off without a hitch! Thanks to everyone who came, hope you had a great time!

Onward…

Tag: GeneralPaul C. @ 8:42 pm

Well, things are going well so far. Looking at some interesting plugins for the WordPress (blog) software. There are mp3 players, random quote generators, games, and other stuff. Aside from tracking the progress on our house, I will probably use this space to post about random news, tidbits, funny links, and other stuff I find online. After my space is “finished”, I’ll probably move Sean’s Website. over to WordPress.
Emily has a login for the Gallery and the Blog software now as well, so maybe she will start posting too. (Paul and Emily…Welcome to 2004!) pc out

New Website!

Tag: GeneralPaul C. @ 11:13 pm

Emily and I have decided to redesign the website and join the leagues of our fellow blogging friends. We are doing this so we can keep people up to date on the house we are building. 🙂 They broke ground on Tuesday after drawing out the shape of the house in spray paint. Emily took pics of it, and we will get those online as soon as our gallery is fixed.
